Mark Doering-Powell’s cinematography bridges numerous styles and genres such as his early work on Everybody Hates Chris, for which he was nominated twice for an Emmy in outstanding cinematography.
Mark has also lensed numerous other pilots such as Workaholics, Growing Up Fisher, Jane by Design, and My Boys. Three series have required period looks: Everybody Hates Chris, Glory Daze and Hindsight.
Mark’s trademark is, “anything’s possible” often followed half-jokingly with, “how much time do we have ?” - it’s the beginning of how his excellent crews have managed to do so much with so little - by sheer will to do something special.
Mark recently shot seasons 2 & 3 of Grown-ish, which follows Zoey (Yara Shahidi) through her college years. He also lensed the Kenan Thompson pilot, directed by Chris Rock, as well as 4 seasons of Just Add Magic for Amazon.
Mark lensed several early digital projects such as Pearl Harbor II: Pearlmageddon and WB’s Family Affair.
Mark Doering-Powell is honored to be a member of the American Society of Cinematographers, as well as the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and one of the early members of the Visual Effects Society.
Mark began his career as a Focus Puller, working his way up as Camera Operator and 2nd Unit Cinematographer with a background in visual effects. He graduated from the film program at Pratt Institute School of Art & Design in Brooklyn, NY.
